Missing Berkeley, deeply. Have fond memory of the two years we spent there. Have you been to Berkeley Bowl lately? And the cheese place at the Rockridge Town Center, and the wine shop Kermit Lynch, Paul Marcus, etc.. And the many, many interesting artisan bakeries, and coffee roasters, and bookstores, and independent theaters, and ……

    Jean’s Reply:
Berkeley was never mine, even though I went there for college. It was more my sister’s town since she spent both her undergrad and grad school years there. Later i got to see a glimpse of the place from time to time through her eyes, it seemed to be the same town that you are now missing. I loved it too, minus its insane parking regulations. If i ever had the chance to work in downtown SF (instead of the dreary suburbia of the silicon valley), then I’d seriously consider moving to Berkeley, some day.

Who knows? The new city planning and inevitable modification of zoning regulations in SF might just make it more friendly to IT businesses, and offer more viable residence to professionals with income
